Your data at Dakkies.
Dakkies helps you find rentals and organise your search. Public previews show limited property information. You can prepare an account and one inactive search before subscribing. Full details, saved searches, favourites and rental alerts require paid access.
Who is responsible?
Elitizm, trading as Dakkies, is responsible for the use of your personal data within this service. For privacy questions or requests: support@dakkies.com or WhatsApp +31 6 13772344.
What information do we use?
- Account: your email address, name or display name, language preference, email verification time and a record of the terms you accepted. You sign in using an email code; you do not create a Dakkies password.
- Profile and search: information you choose to enter, such as occupation, gross monthly income, household size, introduction and search criteria. This includes towns or map areas, budget, property features and preferences relating to pets, sharing or students.
- Your workspace: saved searches, favourites, excluded providers, rental matches, read status, your notes, viewing dates and completed preparation tasks.
- Service and security: sign-in attempts, timestamps, cryptographic check values for codes and sessions, derived security keys, delivery statuses and technical error information. Our email system processes your address and the messages we send you.
- Contact: information you send to support@dakkies.com, such as your question and the details needed to answer it.
- Listing tips: the original URL, your relationship to the listing and the context you provide. These remain linked to your account until you ask for their removal or delete your account.
- Subscription and payment: your Stripe customer and subscription references, payment status, amounts, currency, invoice references, paid period, cancellations, refunds and disputes. We also record which subscription terms you accepted and whether you requested an immediate start. Dakkies does not store full card numbers or security codes. We also record which introductory offer you received, its paid period and renewal-reminder status, and use your subscription/payment history to check introductory eligibility.
Why do we use it, and on what basis?
- For your account, saved preferences, rental matches and the tools you request, we use the information needed to provide the service to you. Our legal basis is performance of our agreement with you. This includes sign-in codes you request.
- Rental emails deliver matches for the search you request and are part of providing that service. Delivery is preselected for new accounts; you review and confirm your choice when saving your search. You can clear the checkbox, turn rental emails off later in your account preferences or use the unsubscribe link in a rental email. We send only matches for an enabled search with paid access, not general marketing emails. Your account remains available after unsubscribing and you can still request a sign-in code.
- We use limited technical information to prevent misuse, resolve faults and handle questions. Our legitimate interest is a secure, functioning service and effective support. We do not use this information to build advertising profiles.
- We use subscription and payment information to perform your agreement, manage access and handle payments, cancellations and refunds. We process information needed for statutory financial records under a legal obligation.
You choose what to add and share
A working email address is needed to sign in. Extra profile information is optional. Your inactive setup search starts working only after confirmed payment. You can still sign in to manage your account and privacy requests without paid product access.
Do not use your profile to upload or send identity documents, a citizen service number, bank statements or medical information. Dakkies does not need these. Introductions and notes can contain personal information; you choose their content.
We automatically compare listing information with your selected filters. This produces suggestions, not a decision about your eligibility for a home. The provider assesses any application. Your profile or draft letter is never automatically sent to landlords: you review and send a response yourself.
How your emails work
Cloudflare sends sign-in codes and the rental emails you enable. This involves processing your email address and message content. We also keep technical delivery information to identify problems. A rejected message, bounce or spam complaint can automatically turn off rental emails.
We do not add advertising trackers or Dakkies tracking pixels to rental emails. Unsubscribing from rental emails does not block a sign-in code you later request.
Cookies and your browser
We use functional cookies for secure sign-in. The temporary sign-in cookie is valid for up to ten minutes. The session cookie lasts up to thirty days; access ends sooner after seven days without activity or when you sign out.
An unfinished search can be kept in your browser tab’s session storage so you can continue later. We only restore drafts that are no more than 24 hours old. This draft does not store an email address or income you entered. You can clear your browser storage yourself.
We do not use advertising trackers on the website. Without an account, your search filters are not stored as a customer profile. The hosting service still processes technical request information to deliver pages and secure traffic.
Hosting, maps and other websites
Cloudflare provides hosting, database storage, security and operational email. This involves processing account information and technical request data, such as IP addresses and connection information.
When you search for a town, our server sends the place search term to PDOK. Your profile and email address are not sent with it. The background map loads directly from OpenStreetMap, so the map service receives technical request data, including your IP address and the requested map tiles.
Listing photos may load directly from the original provider or its image service. That service then receives the request to display the photo. Opening a listing or social media profile takes you to another website with its own privacy rules. Dakkies does not sell your profile information or automatically disclose it to landlords.
Stripe processes payments and provides the checkout and billing portal. We share your account reference, name and email address for these purposes. Payment details entered on Stripe are processed there. Stripe may also use information for its own legal obligations and fraud prevention, so it does not act solely as our processor in every case. Stripe explains its roles, retention and international transfers in its privacy information.
If you contact us through WhatsApp, we process your phone number and the messages needed to answer your enquiry. WhatsApp is a separate service with its own privacy terms. Email remains available. Do not send identity documents, citizen service numbers or payment details through WhatsApp.
Processing outside the European Economic Area
Cloudflare operates globally and may process information outside the EEA, including in the United States. Cloudflare describes using the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and standard contractual clauses, with additional safeguards where needed. Its data processing terms explain which arrangement applies to a transfer. You can read those terms below or ask us for more information.
Optional research: how did you find Dakkies?
When creating a new account, you may choose to tell us how you found Dakkies: Instagram, TikTok, Google, word of mouth or other. Only if you also select the separate consent checkbox do we link your answer and sign-up language to your account and subscription and refund outcomes. Our legal basis is your consent. Your choice does not affect the service, price or email preferences.
We use this to understand which channels reach customers. We do not collect a visitor ID, IP address, referring URL, click ID, free text, search criteria or browser storage for this research. Your answer is a self-reported source; it does not prove which post you visited, where you come from or what a campaign caused. The owner sees counts by source and sign-up language; explicitly known owner test accounts are excluded.
The research record expires 90 days after consent and is no longer used from that point. Daily maintenance then physically deletes it, no later than the next daily run. You can withdraw at no cost in My account, which deletes the research record immediately. It is also included in your account data download. Account deletion removes it too. Billing history subject to legal retention remains separate.
Only with your consent may a sign-in request temporarily hold your answer until your code is verified. Successful verification clears that temporary field, including for existing accounts. Unfinished requests are removed by the existing daily cleanup. We do not retrospectively add research records for existing accounts.
How long do we keep information?
- Your account, profile, searches, favourites, progress and related notifications remain in the active database until you delete them or your account. Turning off rental emails does not delete your account history.
- A sign-in code expires after ten minutes. Its request record is removed during daily cleanup once it has been expired for more than one day. New sign-in requests also run the same cleanup.
- Session access ends after no more than thirty days, or seven days without activity. Expired session records are removed during daily cleanup or a new sign-in request; signing out immediately deletes the current session. Your account itself is kept separately.
- Derived keys used to limit sign-in attempts are removed during daily cleanup or a new sign-in request when their counting window is more than two days old. These are pseudonymised security records, not anonymous statistics.
- Temporary rental email content is removed after a sending attempt is resolved. Outstanding messages are cleaned up on a subsequent processing run after their 23-hour delivery window. An interrupted send with an unknown outcome is cleaned up during daily maintenance after one day, without being resent automatically. Separate technical message IDs, statuses and timestamps are removed during daily cleanup once they are more than thirty days old. Your account notification history remains until you delete it or your account.
- We keep support messages while your question or complaint and any necessary follow-up are being handled. Information needed for a specific legal obligation or dispute is kept for the period that purpose requires.
- Account deletion removes data that no longer needs to be retained from the active database. Information that must remain in the financial records is handled separately as described below. Earlier data may remain in the database host’s limited recovery history, which can extend up to thirty days depending on the hosting plan. Sign-in and security data follow their separate cleanup described above.
- We retain core financial records for seven years under tax record-keeping duties. Where specific records have a statutory ten-year period, for example when using One Stop Shop, we retain those records for that required period. Account deletion does not erase these mandatory records. Information still needed for an ongoing agreement or a specific dispute is retained while a valid legal basis applies.
View, change or delete your information
In My account you can update your profile and download your information. Accounts without linked billing details can also be deleted there. Once a billing account or payment history is linked, contact support@dakkies.com for deletion: we remove data that is no longer needed and explain which records must be retained by law. Do not send identity documents unless we request additional verification because it is necessary.
Where the GDPR gives you these rights, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability, and object to use based on a legitimate interest. You can turn off rental emails at any time. We normally respond within one month; if more time is needed, we explain this within that month.
You can complain to the Dutch Data Protection Authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. You may also contact the supervisory authority in the EU country where you live or work.
When things change
We update this notice when the way we use information changes. The date and version identify the notice you are reading. Preparing an account does not start a subscription or payment.
Optional device notifications
If you enable device notifications, Dakkies stores your browser subscription address and encryption keys, linked to your account, to send new matching-home alerts. Delivery uses the push service of your browser provider (Google, Mozilla or Apple). That provider processes the technical delivery of an encrypted general Dakkies message. We do not put an address, rent, income or search preferences in the notification.
You can turn notifications off for a device or all devices in Account → Notifications. This removes stored subscription data and its queued deliveries. A message already in transit may still arrive. Delivery records are retained for up to 30 days; subscription records expire after 90 days without renewal, or earlier when the browser reports expiration. Browser and operating-system permissions are managed separately in your device settings.
